22 Years of Facing Cancer with Confidence

A few makeup tips when you have hair loss from EstherMarie®

My biggest tip is to treat your scalp the same as your face until your hair grows back thats face creams and all ..
Shampoo's main purpose is for your hairs so if you have very little hair treat as a continuation of your face so use your skincare all over.
Also foundation on your scalp .. as it gets little sun from hair wig or hat over it tends to be very pale… pale things always look bigger so taking your foundation on to your scalp will make a big difference
Finally shine makes things look bigger and as there are lots of oil glands on your scalp your scalp is normally more shiny to your face so again looks bigger use powder to matt the scalp and your face will become more prominent not your scalp.
Brows really do express how you feel, they are known as the 'coat hangers of your face" so if you have fine hairs or no hair at all its really worth the effort.. As a key if you have a round face draw an angled brow to give you more definition. If you have a square or long face especially with high cheek bones draw a little more rounded to soften your look. I recommend a waterproof sharp pencil to draw fine lines like hairs. Practice on your hand or a friend. If you have over done it use cotton buds to tidy and dab a little foundation over your brows to soften them.
If your wondering how thick to go or have a powder try using stencils. They facilitate the application of eyebrow powder. The enclosed eyebrow brush enables an even and easy application of the eyebrow powder. The box contains three different stencils (thin, natural, thick) which can be used depending on individual eyebrow shape. So the eyebrows are perfectly shaped.
Eye lashes have come a long way and you really can get a great look. Get eye lash strips that are brown to give a softer look. Apply a little higher as they wont have lashes to rest on, This way they will curl upwards and not downwards. You can get lash strips that have a clear band rather than a black or brown again this will help the natural look.

LGFB is dedicated to improving the wellbeing and self-confidence of people undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. Many beneficiaries tell LGFB helped them regain a sense of control and normality at a time when diagnosis and treatment had taken over their lives.

“I enjoyed the workshop and was surprised about the goody bag. It genuinely felt as if the cosmetic companies were giving you something and not wanting anything in return-generosity of products and generosity of spirit.”

About the Workshops

Workshops are an opportunity to forget about your illness and to enjoy the company of other ladies in a welcoming environment

The main objective is to help women and teenagers combat the visible side-effects of cancer treatment at what can be a very difficult time in their lives.  The aim is to help them literally look good and feel better.

Keeping it simple

The two-hourfree of charge skincare and make-up Workshops every week, fortnight or month, depending on hospital requirements in each area in a safe and understanding environment.

Held in hospitals and cancer care centres throughout the UK, each Workshop (normally 10 -12 attendees) is run by a team of qualified beauty volunteers.  The volunteers have a wealth of experience either working for many of our supporting cosmetic brands within department stores, or who work independently as freelance make-up artists, within salons or run their own beauty businesses.

Off to a great start

When ladies arrive, they receive a Look Good Feel Better gift bag filled with a specially selected range of donated skincare and make-up products suited to their skin tone.

The team of beauty volunteers guide them through a 12-step skincare and make-up regime, with great hints and tips on how best to apply each product. Particular care is taken with key ‘problem’ areas resulting from cancer treatment, such as re-defining the eye area when ladies have lost brows and lashes.

An uplifting experience

The Workshops are also about having fun. They are informal, relaxed and informative,
giving people a chance to meet others in a similar situation.

It’s a time for a woman to focus on herself – and not her illness.

"We know from research we have conducted and countless wonderful comments made by many ladies who have attended our Workshops just how fabulous they feel following their time with us. From the feedback we regularly receive we know many people arrange to meet friends or family after their Workshop because, often for the first time in months, they feel able to go out and enjoy themselves."

"I never thought of myself as much of a make-up person - I can't believe how brilliant I feel and look after just two hours. I can't wait to show my family." LGFB Beneficiary
